Who: Eric, Sookie, Rose, Sam (any others?)
What: Eric goes to meet Rose's vampire hunter, Sookie insists on tagging along
When: Thursday, near midnight
Where: 2nd Floor Hallway
Status: In Progress
Warnings: Swearing? Eric hopes for no violence (shocking, I know)
As expected, after hearing of the meeting Eric had agreed to with Rose and her 'vampire hunter,' Sookie had insisted upon coming along. He'd asked her to stay behind, not sure if this was going to turn into a trap set by said hunter, but she had quickly gotten angry with him, insisting that her presence and telepathy would be useful. He had to admit that she was correct in part - if Sam were setting up an attack, having a human companion who at least knew him would be helpful in proving his 'innocence', and her ability would warn them of any unpleasant intentions. Eventually, he relented, allowing her to come along. He would have preferred her to remain hidden, but he knew her well enough to know that she would never stand for that.
They arrived at the assigned meeting point early, which conveniently was on the 2nd floor hallway, not far from Sookie's room. Eric leaned against the wall, his arms crossed over his chest as they waited for Rose to arrive, his eyes flicking down each end of the hallway periodically to check for any movement. Despite his belief that Rose hadn't been lying to him (he was pretty good at sniffing out the lies of humans), that didn't mean that her friend was going to keep his word and come without her. Sookie needed to stay safe, which meant he needed to be prepared.
Eric heard the sound of nearby footsteps before he saw them through the darkness, and he silently cursed his mildly dulled senses as he stood up straight and stepped to the middle of the hallway, positioning himself in front of the blonde telepath. Still, it was easy to hear that there were two pairs of shoes coming closer, and that was a good sign. So far, everything was going as planned. He glanced over his shoulder at Sookie, the two blondes exchanging a silent stare, before returned his attention to the approaching figures.

She spotted Sam waiting outside of his room. Rose gave little more than the usual "Oi, Sammy!" before grabbing his sleeve and proceeding down the hall. Surely, he could forgive her in the name of not pissing off the vampire, right? There were no specific legends about vampires hating tardiness, but one could never be too safe! ...That was the excuse she told herself, anyway. Really, she just didn't want Sam to ask where she'd been.
Rose had intentionally left her lantern in her room. Eric wasn't fond of light. She figured the moon and stars through the French doors would be enough. The blonde began regretting the choice, though, when she couldn't see her own feet in the dark. She hoped Sam wouldn't trample her; she was purposefully staying ahead of him.
At last, she made out two figures near the balcony. ...Wait, two? Eric hadn't said anything about company! Though she trusted the vampire, Rose could feel suspicion creeping up her back. She stopped in shadow, turning to Sam, hoping they hadn't been seen yet. "Could'ja stay back 'ere, maybe?" she asked. "Jus' until I say 'ello, an' figure ou' who tha' blonde bird is?"

Sookie felt a bit worried and couldn’t stop herself from glancing at Eric as they stood there and waited. She just wanted to get this over with and know that Eric would be safe in this house. It would be horrible if he were to be hunted down. Of course Sookie would do everything that she could to help the vampire.
She straightened up when she heard the footsteps and took a few steps forward. She already began to try and listen to their thoughts, but it was harder then usual. She hoped, that maybe they just weren’t close enough. She was able to make out something though, as fuzzy as it was. "You’re right," she whispered to Eric, "I can’t hear them all that well. I can feel that the girl is confused, but that’s all. Can’t actually hear her thought as to why."
I'M SORRY I'VE BEEN SOOO BUSY /sob
So, walking in the dark (because that seemed to be the norm), he let Rose drag him through the house.
They stopped up by the balcony, moonlight illuminating two figures (two?) against the darkness. Rather dramatic, but Sam expected that kind of thing from vampires. Sure, there was one in a million that didn't want the curse, and actively fought against their instincts, but most of the time it was a lie. And they would use any trick in the book to lure some poor bleeding heart close enough to rip them apart. He'd seen it before and he wouldn't be surprised if he saw it again.
Sam gave Rose a half nod, agreeing to stay back, but only by a few feet as to come off as tall and intimidating as possible. He didn't have his weapon of choice, but guns didn't do much against vampires. Instead he had borrowed Dean's key to the garden shed and found a particularly useful hand saw that currently sat against his chest - hidden by his jacket.
ITS OTAY! GLAD YOURE HERE NOW! :D
Rose broke away from her friend and came a bit closer, and Eric did his best not to be 'creepy,' as she'd put it. His grin was as friendly as was possible for him, with not a fang in sight.
"Good evening, Rose," he said pleasantly. "I am sorry I couldn't mention it earlier." Eric motioned behind him, towards the blonde waitress. "This is Sookie, an employee of mine. A human employee." It was as good a title as any. She had done paying work for him. "She insisted on coming."

"'ello, Eric," Rose smiled. "Nice, uh, moon we're 'avin'." There wasn't much small talk to be found by the balcony. It was, well, dark.
Sookie's presence confused her. Eric hadn't mentioned any friends. In fact, he'd seemed quite alone in the world when they'd met. She tried to not let it lead to doubt. Rose was right, everything was fine, and she wasn't about to change her mind.
"'ello, human employee," she said, parroting Eric's tone. Keeping polite, she extended a hand to Sookie.
AS THEY SAID! ITS OTAY! GLAD YOURE HERE NOW! :D
When Rose finally reached them, Sookie smiled and listened to the exchange of words between Eric and Rose. Sookie wanted to roll her eyes and say something sarcastic to Eric when he introduced her as his human employee, but for once she held back and only gave him a quick look that only she would know about.
"My, you’re pretty," she said with a bit of a giggle, "Eric didn’t mention that bit." She stepped forward and took Rose’s hand in her own. "It’s so nice to meet you, Eric has said some good things," Sookie smiled and held on to Rose’s hand a bit longer then normal. She was trying again to read Rose’s mind, usually if she touched someone, she could get a better read.
Sookie finally let go of Rose’s hand and held back the disappointment and frustration that she felt. Instead she kept a smile plastered on her face like nothing was wrong; she was used to hiding her feelings. When you were a telepath and heard things you weren’t suppose to you had to learn how to control your facial expressions so one would know.
baww
He wondered silently why Eric had brought Sookie, then immediately chalked it up to collateral damage. Getting her involved in a fight, should one break out, would serve to distract Sam and let Eric get away. A human shield, so to speak.
There was also the appearance to think of. Showing up with a human singing your praised could do a lot when you were what Eric was.
Still, it was awkward following Rose's lead - something he wasn't used to doing when it came to work. In fact, it was almost weird to be on the job again. On a small, normal, not trapped inside a house for months, job. It was almost nice. Even if Dean wasn't there, and the situation was all kinds of screwed up.

He watched as Sookie and Rose shook hands, catching the telepath's glance as she looked back at him. He knew she wouldn't like his introduction, but there was little else he could have called her. Eric could only imagine what look she would have given him if he had called her his bonded or future lover or something equally embarrassing for her, even if they were all true.
"Sookie arrived last week," he explained, trying to detract any suspicion as to her presence there. Eric glanced past Rose, at the man behind her, who was looking at him with obvious hostility. "You must be Rose's friend," he said, his smile fading into a more serious expression. Eric looked to Rose expectantly - they might as well get on with this and skip the rest of the friendly charade. Small talk was a waste of time.

Eric wanted to move things right along, and Rose was grateful. She couldn't help but be worried that John was downstairs starting a fire. Skipping all other getting-to-know-you type niceties, she explained Sam. "Righ', yea. Mister tall, dark, an' shadowy back there is Sam Winchester." She motioned for him to approach.
Rose really hoped Sam could at least give Eric a chance. The second he got close enough, she was reaching for his hand. She wanted to be reassuring, but would also act as a (flimsy) line of defense from any potential outbursts. "Say 'ello, Sam," she requested, trying to mediate.

Sookie peered back at the guy. So far nothing seemed wrong. She really couldn't get a read on him, but she was sure that if he were thinking something hostile, she would hear that, as those thoughts were usually louder.
When Sam got a bit closer, Sookie lightly smiled his way. Even if she didn't trust the man yet and wanted to just rattle off to him on way he needs to leave Eric alone, she knew that playing friendly was the way to go about this; at least for now.

Fortunately, that was impossible, and Eric found himself entirely unamused and not threatened in the slightest. From here, this 'vampire hunter' looked quite vulnerable and human. Then again, he hadn't known what to expect. The man did not even have a visible weapon on him, though the Viking was quite sure he'd brought something with which to harm him. His body language was too negative for that not to be the case.
Eric had the distinct feeling that this would go very wrong at some point. It was more of a question of when than if.
"If you have questions or concerns, now would be the time to voice them," he said, looking at the man pointedly. Eric was not one to back down, and if it came to a fight, so be it. He would not hesitate to defend himself or Sookie.

She stood in silence for a moment. Having Eric explain his background would only be a waste of time. Rose had already given that information to Sam a few nights prior.
"Um, Sookie," the Companion piped in, trying another route. "Since Sam an' I are jus' meetin' ya, why don'tcha tell us 'ow ya met Eric?" She shot Sookie a look, hoping she'd get the hint in the dark. "Betcha feel really safe and comfortable around 'im, yea?"
...Subtlety wasn't Rose Tyler's specialty.

Sookie looked to Rose and got what the girl was trying to get at. She really wasn't the best at being subtle, if only she knew that Sookie could read some of thoughts.
"I well, met Eric when I went to his bar. You see he owns this bar and a friend of mine brought me one night. Vampires are out in the open, everyone knows bout them," she smiled as she paused; she had to be careful of her wording. "He needed help with something and I helped him out." She couldn’t exactly tell them why he needed her help. "Been helping him ever since and he's saved my life a few times." And, put it in serious danger, but she'd leave that part out.
"I know in your worlds they must seem like monsters, but they aren’t like that in ours." Which was only half true, but she knew that she needed this Sam guy to think that vampires were no threat at all. "I've seen," she glances at Eric, "a different side of him. It's hard to believe at first, but I swear that it's there. Eric wouldn't harm a soul." And, Sookie told another lie. She was sure that Eric wouldn't hurt anyone in this house, because of that, she didn't feel bad about lying one bit. When it came to the ones she
lovedcared about, she'd do anything to keep them safe.
