Rose wouldn't have fallen asleep, had she been given the choice. The last thing she remembered was huddling against Sam Winchester in a safe house. She recalled the zombies, the fear, and an unnerving, deadly look in Sam's eyes. With all of this so vivid, though, nothing in Rose's memory suggested slumber. She'd been transported, unconscious, back to the house.

Lucifer had been waiting.

The Devil invaded her dreams all too eagerly. He had been paying attention to Rose's absence, and lovingly welcomed her back with visions of Sam. The Sam in her mind wore blood about his mouth. There were flashes of black eyes, a knife with a serrated blade, and a deep, constant hunger. The younger Winchester had kept every bit of this from Rose, but Lucifer was more than willing to share. She'd resisted the persuasion for several nights. Now, though, after the way Sam had looked in the safe house...

Rose was in a place where Lucifer could actually make a dent in her faith.

Her eyes shot open. A layer of cold sweat caused her clothes to stick to her skin. Rose felt the now-familiar racing of her own heart, and knew she was really awake. Something had to be done about her tormentor before she went into sleep-deprived shock.

Only after a few moments did the girl notice she wasn't alone. Sam was asleep beside her. Trying not to wake him, she gently pulled his arm over her waist. She didn't close her eyes, however. Rose Tyler had an idea to mull over. If Lucifer could transport his psyche into hers... did that mean his body was idle?
