Eric chuckled at Rose's comment about the moon. It was an odd thing to mention, though he likened it to humans talking about weather during the day. It was pointless small talk that he would rather do without.
He watched as Sookie and Rose shook hands, catching the telepath's glance as she looked back at him. He knew she wouldn't like his introduction, but there was little else he could have called her. Eric could only imagine what look she would have given him if he had called her his bonded or future lover or something equally embarrassing for her, even if they were all true.
"Sookie arrived last week," he explained, trying to detract any suspicion as to her presence there. Eric glanced past Rose, at the man behind her, who was looking at him with obvious hostility. "You must be Rose's friend," he said, his smile fading into a more serious expression. Eric looked to Rose expectantly - they might as well get on with this and skip the rest of the friendly charade. Small talk was a waste of time.
