Well, it was late, but at least her anger had finally made it's appearance. Eric had thought maybe she'd hit her head when she'd arrived or something. Still, though she wanted answers, she didn't really seem mad. Interesting.

"I don't know," he replied, his brow creasing as she began to ramble, saying more than a few incriminating things in the process. Still, he waited patiently until she was done, despite the increasing irritation he was beginning to feel. Surely she didn't think he actually had something to do with this.

"No, I highly doubt this has anything to do with Russell. As delicious as your blood may be, this is not about that either," he said quickly, his voice hushed as if trying to keep a secret. "There are no other vampires here either, but apparently the place is ripe with hunters of them. I am not exactly at full strength, so I'd appreciate it if you kept the loud vampire talk to a minimum until I have fixed the situation. Unless you truly want to get me killed."

He paused for a moment, collected himself as he straightened his back, looking down the corridor to check for any eavesdroppers. "As courageous as you may be, Miss Stackhouse, you are not the best liar I have ever met. Russell was not alive for as long he was without being able to sniff out traps. If you had not been truthfully angry and scared, he would never have fallen for it." Eric paused again, clearing his throat. "I would never have let him have you."
