"Intrus étranges," a voice replied. Captain Pipesweet understood their English, but chose to answer in his native French. He removed his beloved pipe from between his teeth. Approaching the mysterious pair, boots clomping, he analyzed them thoroughly. Their apparel was strange. Such ugliness did not belong on The Siren.
The Captain halted right beside them. Close up, the lady wasn't entirely unkind to the eyes. In fact, in the right gown, she'd be elegant, were it not for that dreadful accent. The man... Pipesweet would just as soon throw him overboard, but he appeared to desire employment. Stowaways need not be killed, if useful. The Captain wasn't a savage, after all. Not usually.
Choosing not to overreact, he extended his free hand to John first. "Bonjour," Pipesweet said curtly. "Explain yourselves." The pirate smiled, but the Captain's tone wore no frills.
The crew continued to work, as if they saw none of these events occurring.
